Friends of the Farmstead Purpose

The Friends of the Farmstead (FOF) was established in 1996 as the not-for-profit group which would help raise funds for future projects and programs at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. FOF operates as part of the Arts and Recreation Foundation of Overland Park, Kansas. Examples of major funded projects include: Helen's Country School, The Dairy Barn, the Main Entrance, Ben's Bank, and most recently Vic's General Store and Alex and Emily's Ice Cream Parlor.

Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead

Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead was established in 1978 to depict a turn of the century farm. Activities, attractions and programs are provided April 1 through October 31 in a 12 acre educational farm environment that cultivates an appreciation of farm life, wildlife and Kansas Heritage. Tribute & Donor Opportunities

The Friends of the Farmstead have a variety of Tribute & Donor Opportunities available throughout the Farmstead including sponsoring swings and benches, butterfly house donations, a sunflower wall, and personalized bricks on the Kansas Farm Trail.

Lace up those shoes because it's time for Georgia's Annual Chicken Fun Run/Walk! Chicken Run Schedule: 7:30 a.m. - Check-in, National Anthem, Chicken Dance (performed by our very own Chelsea Chicken). Before the races volunteers will run carnival style games and activities for the children. Race schedule: 8:30 a.m. - first race begins, 9:45 a.m. - awards ceremony (trophies). Join the Stampede! This competitive and non-competitive event uses CHIP timing, and starts and ends at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. The Farmstead Stampede Course will use a portion of the Overland Park trail system that winds around St. Andrews Golf Course. We will again host participation and fund-raising teams.
